short story with moral - THE SLAVE AND THE LION

                                            The slave and the lion

Once upon a time there was a slave. He worked very hard for his master. But his master used to treat him very badly. So the slave thought how to escape from him. One day he ran away to a forest.

He heard a groan. He went forward and saw a lion. There was a thorn in its paw.

The slave felt sorry for the lion. Without any fear, he went to the lion and pulled out the thorn. The lion felt relieved. He did not kill the slave.

In the meantime, the master had started a search for the slave. At last, his men caught the slave.  The master ordered him to be thrown before a hungry lion.

But everybody surprised to see that the lion did not kill the slave. Like a dog it licked the feet of the slave. The slave recognized the lion. He told the whole story to the people.

The master was very much impressed. He made the slave a free man.

Moral: Kindness is always rewarded.
